What P176C indicates
The DQ381 transmission control unit stores P176C when it detects the following condition: Gear selector 3 — cannot be regulated. The fault concerns engaging a gear. The gear selector moves the shift fork hydraulically and a travel sensor reports its position. The code is stored when the gear cannot be engaged, the position does not match the command, or the movement takes too long. A stored code does not by itself prove that a part has failed.
