Categories

DQ500 fault-code categories

Codes are grouped by the system or component they relate to. Counts show how many codes fall into each category.

Gear ratio / gear loss (9)

This is a mechanical plausibility check: the control unit compares the input and output shaft speeds with the ratio expected for the selected gear. The code is stored when the calculated ratio does not match or a gear drops out unexpectedly.

Clutch faults (8)

The fault concerns clutch control: engagement, adaptation, torque limitation or clutch temperature. The control unit compares the commanded clutch position or pressure with the measured value and stores the code when the difference or the adapted value leaves the permitted range.

Gear selection (4)

The fault concerns engaging a gear. The gear selector moves the shift fork hydraulically and a travel sensor reports its position. The code is stored when the gear cannot be engaged, the position does not match the command, or the movement takes too long.

Valve / solenoid electrical (2)

The fault is electrical: the control unit monitors the current and resistance of each solenoid and pressure control valve, and stores the code when it detects an open circuit, a short circuit or a control current outside the expected range.

Hydraulic pressure (2)

The fault concerns the hydraulic supply of the mechatronic unit. The control unit compares the required system pressure with the measured pressure and stores the code when the pressure is too low, too high, builds up too slowly, or the pump runs outside its normal operating time.

Internal control unit (TCU) (1)

The fault originates in the transmission control electronics integrated into the mechatronic unit. The unit's self-diagnosis has detected an internal error, an implausible internal value or a software problem.

Transmission control (1)

A general transmission control fault: the control unit has detected a malfunction in the transmission system that is not tied to one specific component. Codes stored at the same time usually point to the actual cause.

Speed sensor (1)

The fault concerns a speed signal. The control unit needs the input (clutch/turbine) and output shaft speeds to control shifts and clutch slip, and stores the code when a signal is missing, implausible or electrically faulty.

Communication (1)

The fault concerns data communication between the transmission control unit and other control units on the powertrain CAN bus. The code is stored when messages are missing or corrupted, or the bus hardware reports an error.

Frequently asked

DQ500 fault-code questions

How many fault codes are documented for the DQ500?

The number shown on this page reflects the codes currently documented for the DQ500 in our reference. The database is extended as further documentation is confirmed.

Are DQ500 codes the same as codes on other DSG families?

Some codes overlap in format, but the DQ500 has its own hydraulic and clutch design, so the meaning and the likely cause can differ from other families. Always read a code in the context of the family.

Can you supply the part indicated by a DQ500 code?

We supply mechatronic assemblies and selected parts for the DQ500. Send us the code and the vehicle details and we will confirm the correct unit or part by email.
